Expelled is at 11% at Rotten Tomatoes right now.

I usually agree with most of the movies on there(the higher the score the better)-- usually, movies over 80% I find enjoyable to watch.

There are probably biases at RT, but the poll you probably way more biased. I'm guessing the majority of people who went to see (and then voted at Fandango) are those who already believe evolution is wrong. I would guess if you randomly sampled the population and had them watch the movie, the results would be more in line with rotten tomato's results. Just a guess, though.

What point, if any, are you trying to make, actually?

Hmmm. These people also saw it. Nuff said?

I am simply illustrating the difference between what reviewers say about the movie and what viewers say. The disparity is certainly telling.

Also, people vote with their wallets. The word-of-mouth about the movie is helping it do very well, currently third among domestic movies despite being a low budget documentary showing on far fewer screens than the normal major release movies.

Stay tuned for tonight's post!

By the way, I checked out the Talk.origins google group to see what that crowd is saying...here was the first post!

"Roger Friedman at Fox Snooze reviews Expelled:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: Following "The Passion" release pattern, "Expelled" will open wide
on the 18th but mostly in rural and poor neighborhoods. It's got just
one theater in all of New York City, in Times Square, none in places
like Beverly Hills or wealthier, better-educated urban neighborhoods
where more "evolved" people might live.
(italics mine)

According to the film's Web site, the producers are in a whopping 45
theaters in North Carolina, and a mere seven in Massachusetts, 35 in
Georgia, 11 in New Jersey, four in Connecticut and one in Vermont. And
so on. There are huge numbers of screens in Florida and Texas taking
the film, particularly seven in San Antonio. If I lived in the Deep
South, I'd boycott the filmmakers for thinking of me as this gullible
and unsophisticated.

The grandiosity of the arrogance and ignorance displayed by this attitude! I am in awe...

Actually, I went ahead and followed the link and the poster got that quote from reviewer Roger Friedman!!!

Ever hear the song "Attitude Adjustment?" Friedman is my candidate of the week to experience the same..."more evolved, indeed!"

Still not sure what point (if any) you are trying to make, Radar. Care to elaborate?

radar said...

Simple...It's a good movie and the people who go to see it are glad they did according to the feedback. Yet the liberal news media and darwinists have worked overtime saying it is a bad movie and a waste of money. Their efforts appear to be largely fruitless, thankfully. The truth will out, I say!

Taxandrian said...

Excuse me, Radar...are you saying that because two-third (at this moment) of the people who saw Expelled found it a good movie, that the movie tells the truth?

Did I get that right?

radar said...

No, it proves that it isn't a terrible movie to be avoided as the naysayers are claiming. Attendance doesn't tell us what is right, just what is popular or enjoyable.

Indeed. Like all those people who found An Inconvenient Truth, Bowling For Columbine and Fahrenhei 9/11 enjoyable. I get your point. :)
