Amanda is getting married!

Our Daughter Amanda is getting married and I am taking a couple of very difficult technical certs this week while working so the posts will be short or simple pastes until the big Saturday Wedding takes place.

I notice our wonderful government is going to tax US because BP screwed up a drill?

I have a great story to tell and I am trying to figure out whether I should write a novelette or publish chapter by chapter on one of my blogs. Not this one probably.

This is the week of so many graduations and graduation parties. Please do not drink and drive, guys. More later!

So there will be no complaints about Obama not doing enough about the oil spill from these quarters then?

From the article you linked to:

"President Barack Obama and congressional leaders have said they expect BP to foot the bill for the cleanup.

"Taxpayers will not pick up the tab," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday."

Radar,
Congrats and God Bless you during this busy time.

As for taxes, it always comes down to the taxpayer. If the government taxes businesses, the consumer (ie, taxpayer) ultimately picks up the tab.

The oil spill is just another good excuse for a Democrat tax increase. The increased taxes will go into the general fund and get frittered away on some other baloney. Then, when the next oil spill occurs, there won't be any money left and they'll raise taxes again.

Same Stuff, Different Day.

You must live in "La-La Land" if you believe anything Harry Reid says. BP will declare bankruptcy before they pay all the costs. BP will reorganize and the taxpayer will get stuck with all the costs.

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding!

I'm going to have to side with Hawkeye on the BP question. My impression is that they don't have enough money to pay the full costs associated with the disaster.

I think the best we can due is have the US government take permanent ownership of BP and all their assets world wide. I'm a bit disappointed that we haven't done this already. (This is why I laugh whenever someone tries to tell me that President Obama is a liberal. At best he's a microscopically left-of-center ultra-moderate.)

Same if BP actually pays for this - they'll pass it on to the consumer just the same. There's no other way.

What's annoying is that the taxpayer paid for regulation and didn't receive the benefits of that.
