Refuting the Jesus Myth Gang

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen

This post should not have to be written, but since people believe and promote risible things (I reckon so they can feel that they are part of an intellectual elite), things need to be written for R and R: refutation and resources. There is a loud minority of atheopaths and cultists in Eastern religions who claim that Jesus did not exist. It could be argued that these are the Flat Earthers of logic.

By making such claims, they have the intellectual lazy ground of, "Prove it!" Atheists are lackadaisical in this way, saying, "I lack belief that God exists, so you prove it!" The original definition before rewriting was that atheism is the belief that there is no God or gods, but they could not fly that flag under fire, so they retreated to the vacuous "lack of belief" thing — which is still an indefensible positive claim! They do believe in materialism, and spend a passel of time defending it and evolution, plus attacking Christians.

I lack belief in a universe without God. No misotheist has ever given rational response to that remark.

It could be argued that people who say Jesus never existed are Flat Earthers of logic. They try to deny his existence to avoid dealing with the truth.
Any Christian apologist who deals with atheists on social(ist) media, weblogs, and other places has undoubtedly seen all sorts of efforts made to justify their rejection of "religion." These include asking for evidence against evolution and supporting creation, then dodging whatever is presented. I think many invoke the "Jesus Myth" as an escape because they know they cannot logically refute whatever point was made by a Christian or biblical creationist.

The idea that Jesus never existed is contrary to the overwhelming knowledge of historians over the centuries. Telling us to prove he existed "without using the Bible, which is fiction" is an ad hominem and a genetic fallacy. Adherents to the myth concept are showing an appalling lack of historical knowledge. In addition, they disparage the demonstrably accurate historicity of the Bible.

However, the point here is about the reality of Jesus. By saying that historians and scholars believed that Jesus existed, and by citing source documents, it is not a claim that they believe that Jesus is God the Son, Creator of the universe who became a man, died on the cross, and bodily rose from the dead on the third day. Similarly, when citing evolutionists who express serious misgivings about minerals-to-mythologist evolution, it is not a claim that those folks have become creationists. You savvy that, Pilgrim?

It seems that education standards are so weak, practically anybody who pays the fees and gives the approved answers on tests can get a degree. That means there will be people to be found by mockers so they can have their biases confirmed. In a stunning example, a proud atheist talked to agnostic Bart Ehrman to support his belief that Jesus never existed. It did not go well. Also, some atheists get burrs under their saddles about other atheists who are so pig-headed, they deny facts. This one has spent a lot of time refuting the Jesus Myth gang. Please pray that God will work in his life and bring him to salvation.

Now let me turn you over to a couple of interesting articles. First, Tim Chaffe responded to an angry, irrational atheist who insisted that Jesus did not exist. Second, an article for Australians from Christmas 2021 that has useful information for Christians.
