Master Butterfly Gene and False Evolution Claims
Not so long ago, proponents of universal common descent evolution made the medical science-hindering blunder of declaring some elements of DNA to be "junk" because they did not code for proteins. Therefore, they were leftovers from our evolutionary past. This seems downright arbitrary and presumptuous, especially since the science of genetics (pioneered by Gregor Mendel, peas be upon him) was still growing.
It turns out that there is no junk (creationists were right, again), and the usefulness of non-coding areas is still being discovered. The Cis-regulatory elements are important, and evolutionists are certain that they are play a big part in divergence. That is, where organisms supposedly grew apart way back when.

Butterflies have made science news again, this time in regard to a master gene called WntA: “a combined team of researchers from Cornell University and The George Washington University, has characterized the cis-regulatory evolution of the gene WntA in nymphalid butterflies.”
